Su-gondho – Suranjit bhaier choritro, fuler moto pobitro
Talking to journalists at his Rail Bhaban office on Sunday, the probe chief termed the presence of two railways high officials in the microbus, from which Tk 70 lakh was seized, quite unexpected.
Abu Taher said the car driver was at the centre of the incident, but they could not interrogate him as he remains untraced since the incident.
This looks like a cover up and walks like a cover up. Worse, it smells like a cover up.
His own APS claims this was all a conspiracy.
Lesson to be learned? Nothing can be allowed to happen in Bangladesh to undermine Sheikh Hasina. And nothing undermines a Prime Minister more than losing a member of her cabinet.
Of course, this now means that she has 3 rotten eggs in her basket: Abul Hossain, Mostafa Kamal and Suranjit Sengupta. She thinks – as every AL-er down to his APS does – that this is one of many conspiracies to undermine her. And they may be right. We saw during BNP reign how frenzy was created against certain ministers, especially by our twin top editors.
But the sad truth is that her response is simply to cover up that rotten smell for the time being by spraying some light perfume on it. Ah, ki sugondho!
It’s only a matter of time before the stench gets so bad that she’ll have to throw away the basket and let all the eggs inside crack.
