If someone reads সুলতানা কামাল চক্রবর্তী and hears a dog whistle (“what kind of characterless woman marries a malaun”), MR will claim it’s their bigotry, definitely not mahmudur rahman’s fault! Right?
He is referring to sultana kamal as sultana kamal chakrabarti. He is a repeat offender on this count — sultana kamal married a hindu, syed ashraf married a hindu, kamal hossain married a pakistani…. This is worse than suggestively use babu or sri suranjit sengupta. And speaking of suranjit sengupta, you’d recall that some said bangladeshi manners is to use salutation. Let me note that this manners doesn’t seem to hold for syed abul hossain. Again, let’s turn to mahmudur rahman:

So politeness for suranjit babu, but mosharraf hossain or abul hossain don’t get janab or shaheb.

Why Sultana Kamal is hiding her full name? As public figure is she not deceiving people from full disclosure, specially heading Transparency International, which advocates transparency? Besides, shouldn’t people consider such a public person like sultana kamal chakrabarti’s association, background, relation and biased before considering her statements and activities?
Just stating full name of a public person in your view make Mahmudur Rahman a bigot? Why she (and you for that matter) is that insecure in her skin? Have these people done or doing something wrong that you are worried by stating their full name will risk reflect on their wrong doing?
Now lots of people are coming out of woodwork with “bigot” label, where was phantom voice when Hindu teachers one after another insulting religious values across the country. One offending teacher even been promoted within the board of education. Where was the phantom cry against bigotry then?
Surnaming conventions are socially negotiable and quite colonial amongst the native informant classes. But marriage partners, interestingly and embarrasingly, demonstrate the relevant actors principle values.
