Don’t write something unless you have something to say

Once upon a time, I used to look forward to reading Daily Star Forum.  There used to be provocative questions and interesting analysis, particularly in the longer essays, that one wouldn’t get in 800-word op ed pieces.  And there used to be a bunch of new writers.

Not any more.  These days, Forum pieces are written by retired bureaucrats, who really have nothing interesting to say.  Take this piece from the current issue for example.  The author’s tagline reads: Ziauddin Choudhury is a former civil servant.  And what does the former civil servant say?
