K-Prime: Dark Nights | Bright Dreams

From K-Prime bio: These days in hip-hop when you hear the word Bangladesh you expect to hear the ever-present “a milli” beat following. However, to hip-hop’s newest recruit, K-Prime, Bangladesh is more than a producer’s signature drop, it’s his birth country. Moving from Dhaka to the Borough of Queens, New York at age three, Prime, who was born Anik Khan, was immediately introduced to music and politics by his father who was a poet and a political representative in his home country.

Growing up listening to jazz, oldies, and blues, Prime idolized legends such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Miles Davis. Hip-hop would later become a major influence on Prime, adding living hip-hop legends Jay-Z and Nas to the list of those he would craft his art after.

“I make music for the ears” says Prime, which becomes evident when listening to tracks such as “City Lights” and “Roll Up,” in which he displays a smooth and coherent flow which allows listeners to experience the music instead of simply just hearing it. Despite his political consciousness, east coast style, and use of soul beats, Prime is not the type of artist who can be classified or boxed in by a specific genre. “I am what people need me to be,” says Prime, which is a trait that is shared by only the greats and those destined for the same fate.

Since the age of sixteen K-Prime has been making his name known up and down the east coast; performing and appearing on mixtapes in New York, Philly, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Texas. He has also earned a degree in recording arts engineering from the entertainment focused, Full Sail University. Black Sand a joint project with an artist by the name of G-Two, received major blog attention in DdotOMen, Karen Civil, and MeetThaDealer. It also created an international buzz in the Netherlands, UK, Poland, Canada, Vietnam, Iceland, and France. Primes latest “Dark Nights | Bright Dreams” was very well received and was a colaaborative effort well-known underground producer and Def Jam Affiliate EOM (www.eomdotcom.com).

K-Prime has the kick science, no nonsense attitude of old school rappers mixed with the freshness and swagger of the new school artists. With lyrical potency, head nodding beats, and catchy hooks, K-Prime seems to be just what the game has been missing.
