In the name of non-standardising, a luminous (yet stupid) collective wishes to drag Bengali down to a demotic vernacular. However, to remove inherent, traditionalist inflexibility within the language, all dialects – from Tagore to Abbasuddin, from Calcutta to Sylhet – should be used profusely; so that, the real (or main) parts of the language (and its literature) can include tongues of all Bengalis.

This would not be achieved by lowering the standards. We ought to be free of this type of narrow mindedness to enrich our language from within, as it is suicidal to carry envies of a narrow mind.

A language is far more embellished when not exclusionary – it can be used in politics, literature, drama, history, science, philosophy, and at the same time adds humor to colloquial or spoken version.

Yet we see the same collective blaming whatever BANG-AAL when trying to overcome the challenges of linguistic nationalism. Instead, and specially now, we need to make the BENGALI IDENTITY– that has been filched in the last century – more PUBLIC or UNIVERSAL.

At times, this collective forgets about “the State Bangladesh”. Spanning from Arakan to West Bengal, all is a country for Bengalis. Why should a state be smaller than the country?

Their dismissive attitude is so contemptuous and extended that to avoid the “liberation war cetana-baji”, they even deny the actual freedom fight.

Surrendering our history, instead of taking it back and freeing it from the grasp of expansionists (occupation forces), is a defeat.

Hey, neo-Bangladeshi, it is your duty also to set the “history of our liberation war” free. Embrace and get involved in whatever is: BANGLA, BANGALI or BANGLADESH. Delve deep into its profound culture.

BENGALI, BANGLADESH and BANGLA LANGUAGE are not a matter for identity politics – rather, public properties of a very rich, fortified and industrious society. They cannot be bankrolled without historical and cultural funding.

একদল ব্রাইট বেকুব দেখি, তারা বাংলাকে পাঁচালীর ভাষায় (অপ্রমিত করার
নামে) নামাতে চায়। অথচ দরকার প্রমিত ভাংতে রবীন্দ্রনাথ থেকে অাব্বাস
উদ্দিন, কলকাতা থেকে সিলটি সব ডায়ালেক্টকে ব্যবহার করে, জড় বাংলার খানদান
ভাংগা। ভাষার মূলখাতে যাতে সব বাঙালীর জবানের দান অাসে, সেই সাহিত্য
প্রমিতের চাইতে অারো ছোটো জগতে নামলে হবার নয়। একে ভেতর থেকে ফাটাতে হলে,
যে চিন্তার মুক্তি চাই, তার বাধা এ ধাতের ছোটো মন। ছোটো মনের হিংসা
অাত্মঘাতী।

যে ভাষায় রাজনীতি নভেল নাটক ইতিহাস দর্শন বিজ্ঞান করা যাবে, অাবার মুখের
ভাষার রসও পাব, সেই ভাষা বর্জনে না, অারো বেশি অর্জনে হয়।

তাদেরই অাবার দেখি, ভাষাভিত্তিক জাতীয়তাবাদের সমস্য উতরাইতে যা কিছু
বাঙ্গাল তারে দোষাইতে। দরকার এখন বাঙ্গালী পরিচয়কে পুরা অত্মসাত করতে গত
শতকের অাইডেন্টিকে অারো এজমালী করার, অর্থাত সর্বজনের করার।

অনেকসময় এরা রাষ্ট্র বাংলাদেশও ভুলে যায়। অারাকান থেকে পশ্চিম বাংলা
পুরাটাই তো বাঙালির দেশ। দেশের চেয়ে রাষ্ট্র ছোটো হবে কেন?

এদের খারেজিপনা এতদূর যায়, মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনাবাজি এড়াতে এরা খোদ
সংগ্রামটাকেও অস্বীকার করে। অাধিপত্যবাদী শক্তির দখল থেকে ইতিহাস মুক্ত
করা ছেড়ে নিজের জিনিস তার হাতে তুলে দেওয়া পরাজয়। মুক্তিযুদ্ধকে মুক্ত
করাও অাপনার কাজ হে নও-বাংলাদেশি।

যা কিছু বাংলা, বাঙালি, বাংলাদেশ তাকে জড়ান, তার গভীর সংস্কৃতিতে
নিমজ্জিত হোন। বাঙালি, বাংলাদেশ, বাংলা ভাষা অাইডেন্টিটি পলিটিকস না, তা
সমৃদ্ধ এজমালি সমাজের পুঁজি। কোনো সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহাসিক পুঁজি ছাড়া যাবে
না।
